Through my personal and professional experiencesI hold steadfast to my belief that both connectionand belonging heals.
My story of healing began when I was just nine years old and was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Living with the daily fluctuations and uncertainty of my health changed my view of the perceived power we all have over our lives. Through these and other life experiences, I have come to understand that although we cannot always control what happens in our lives, we have the ability to choose how we respond. Having the support, connection, and understanding of others allows us to tap into our resilience to gain insight, adapt, and grow. The truth is, we are not meant to exist and heal on our own.
As my journey progressed, I built the foundation of my work on connecting the innate wisdom of the body and heart with the knowledge of the brain. I blend evidence-based therapies with heart-centered care for my clients.
I believe that people do the best they can with what they know at the time, and that counselling offers a space to interrogate assumptions and assess whether these ideas are congruent with their values. It is also an opportunity for people to reconnect to themselves in order to connect more deeply with others. I am honoured to offer counselling that promotes resilience and curiosity in oneself, which results in a deeper and more satisfying connection to others.
Fast forward to today, and after living in Vancouver for over ten years, my heart was pulled to return to the rolling mountains and sparkling lakes of the Okanagan. I am thankful to be back in a place I lovingly called home throughout my childhood to raise my family and serve the community as a counsellor.
